A functional workslike that separates the balls and sorts out the defective balls. At the end the intact balls are packed.

In order to convey a uniform image as a group, we have developed a corporate identity.

Based on the layout of the Worklikes, a suitable design was created.

Quality test of 200 table tennis balls, 20 of which had either a color patch or a dent. The good balls were packed into trays of 10 at the end. Balls with color defects posed a particular difficulty. In order to eject these from the process with high precision, we integrated an artificial intelligence - KIRA - into our system.
Furthermore, a Lookslike was implemented to the developed Workslike and we also designed the packaging and developed a corporate identity.

In order to gain a good understanding of the necessary components of the machine, a functioning proof of concept was developed. This later served us as a model for optimal integration and transfer into a final product.

Logo Development

AIM stands for "Artificial Intelligence Machines." The logo design focued on representing the machine outer shape. Therefore, the same slant was used and an inherently compact appearance of the typography was developed.

Cooperated Identity

To create a high recognition value and establish a sense of belonging, we developed the logo as well as a corporate identity. For this purpose, AIM brooches were made and special breathing masks were prepared.

We have made quality our habit. It’s not something that we just strive for – we live by this principle every day.

Proprtion study and interaction points

Through the Workslike, we had a good idea of the sequence, position and size relationships of the functional parts. With the knowledge gained, a proportion study was first carried out to ensure the smallest possible space requirement and ergonomic operation.

The balls are fed into the machine from above and initially separated for analysis in the four AI boxes. Below this is the waste container.

The packaging magazine can be filled through the upper opening. The individual packages are then conveyed through the magazine and pushed onto the conveyor belt with the help of a pusher.

Professional balls are packed in the black packaging, whose error tolerance during sorting is < 0.01 % deviation from the standard.

In the white packaging training balls are packed, which are suitable for both training of professionals as well as for amateur Amateur sport are suitable.

Model building

A one twentieth scale model was made using the FDM 3D printing process. In order to achieve the most realistic adjustment possible, the model was disassembled into many small individual parts and assembled after printing.
